I recently listed "bookstores.org" in an auction on Sedo. And got this e-mail right after the auction had ended (No payment was received). Have anyone received this sort of e-mail before?

DOMAIN NAME TRANSFER - Initial Authorization for Registrar Transfer
====================================================================

Re: Transfer of BOOKSTORES.ORG

Dear Gnanes Ariya,

Dirt-Cheap-Domains.net received a request on 7/22/2010 for us to become the new registrar of record.

You have received this message because you are listed as the Registered Name Holder or Administrative contact for this domain name in the WHOIS database. Please read the following important information about transferring your domain name:

You must agree to enter into a new Registration Agreement with us. You can review the full terms and conditions of the Agreement at:
http://www.securepaynet.net/gdshop/....asp?prog_id=276552&pageid=REG_SA&isc=wwbb291

Once you have entered into the Agreement, the transfer will take place within five (5) calendar days unless the current registrar of record denies the request.

Once a transfer takes place, you will not be able to transfer to another registrar for 60 days, apart from a transfer back to the original registrar, in cases where both registrars so agree or where a decision in the dispute resolution process so directs.

====================================================================
IMPORTANT: If the steps below are not completed, the domain name(s) listed above will NOT be transferred to us.
====================================================================

TO PROCEED WITH THE TRANSFER, you must:

1. Go to the Dirt-Cheap-Domains.net home page (http://www.securepaynet.net/default.aspx?prog_id=276552&isc=wwbb291) and log in with your username or customer number and password. Please check your Order Confirmation for Account Information.

2. Select "Pending Transfers" from the list.

3. Select the domain you wish to transfer, and click "Authorization."

You will be asked to provide the following codes in order to process this domain transfer. Please copy and paste them into the corresponding fields when asked:

Transaction ID: 85358700
Security Code: FWZT92477

If you DO NOT WANT the transfer to proceed, then don't respond to this message.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact us by email at [email protected], or by phone at 480-624-2500.

Regards,
Dirt-Cheap-Domains.net

if i'm reading it right

it appears someone is trying to get you to authorize the transfer of "bookstores.org" to another registrar.

either they made the bid themselves and are now trying to get the domain for free from you

or they were following the auction and may assume another buyer has sent you/sedo payment and now you are waiting for transfer request from that buyer.

just my first thoughts

imo...

Looks like a GoDaddy reseller. If it isn't legit you may want to let them know.
