Wrong! The domain actually has zero links and generates no traffic on it's own. Don't fall for this trick of "link popularity". Link popularity can be fooled because some search engines do not check for an actual domain. In this case, it's interpreting the dash as a dot. (The real link is altavista.digital.com)

Recently a scam artist sold seven similar type names on eBay for hundreds.

Just be alert, and check the links for yourself. Visit the sites listed as linking the domain and LOOK for the links.

This is a great point. Thanks for bringing this up.

What I do is always doublecheck using several popularity tools. Enter the domain name in question in the Alexa popularity/link finder tool and you can actually see exactly where the domain name is resolving.

Another sign of foul play I have found to always be a great flag is heavy, dispoportionate links in ALLTHEWEB and *not* in Google or MSN. Check this for yourself. The signs of foul play were there! ;-)
