Domaindiscover is strange

I got a domain transferred to domaindiscover and they got "legal owner" and it is still the name of previous owner.

When I tried to change it , they said they would charge $25 and got to fax the form back to them.

This is new to me. Just bizarre.

Any one experience with them?

Some archaic registrars still charge a fee for ownership transfers but I didn't think Domain Discover does. Names purchased from Buydomains don't charge for an ownership change.

No charge for domain transfer from previous owner.

But admin,tech and everything is my name but "legal owner" is previous owner's name. They now said they will waive the charge but still need to fax the signed documents for changing so called "legal owner".

I had few hundreds $ on my account and the account was deleted from theme, I lost the money and they are saying I never had an account with theme, I registered hundreds of domains years ago.

Problem is that previous owner renewed the domain few days ago and there is 60 day minimum for transfer.

Is that same with other registrars? If you renew your domain, you could not transfer the domain for 60 days?

Its ICANN policy, you cant transfer for 60 days after renewal.

Just pay to have the legal registrant changed if you want, but you can still update all the whois info and nothing about the current "legal owner" will be listed.

ICANN policy only allows for denial of transfer in the first 60 days of registration but not after renewal or change to registrant contact details. A few deny for that reason (Godaddy, NSI) and cite ICANN policy but those are their own policies and not ICANN's. Usually easier to just pay though.....

I don't need to pay anything now as they waived the fees but I don't want to fax the documents and it is just waste of time and effort. I don't have fax machine at home.

Basically just update the whois information and keep the old legal owner..wait the 60 days and transfer it out.

Because the domain was registered with them by previous owner and I ask him to push the domain.

I would just transfer the name now. As long as you have the EPP code and access to the admin contact E-mail it should be no problem.

You cannot transfer a domain name out of it's registrar for at least 60 days of it being renewed. It sounds like the old owner renewed it and now he falls under the 60 day policy.

My understanding is that you can still transfer after renewal but you risk losing the added renewal period. Well I would just wait.
