Domains with the same word twice

I would like to know if anyone has done any testing recently to determine if any benefit in terms of seo for using the same word twice, for example:

www.word-word.com

or

www.wordword.com

I am wonder if your trying to rank for word, does it help to go with the word twice if the single version is not available.

Not really, but it does help somewhat if you have the exact match domain like word.com
