Microsoft reels in its .Net tag
Microsoft acknowledged Thursday that it would begin dropping the .Net term from products because it was just too confusing.

I hope they are going to start reeling in the term "windows" as well, as lots of people seem to think that Microsoft are the only computer company with windows, despite it's use in software that predates Microsoft.

Actually Microsoft are better with doors - they keep closing them

I certainly wouldn't be the person to do it ... but you ARE right, it has to do with "marketing". To me, .NET seems like a 'natural ... even outside of the isp/hosting/network scope. Why the registrars don't do a better job of marketing I can't figure. Though, now that the .ORG is in new hands, I've heard some good things for the ".NET"! Stay tuned.
