Dot-Com is KING.

Will it go the way of other Empires?

Assyria / Babylon / Persia / Greece / Rome / Dot-Coms?

Its only possible challenger is '.eu'.

And thats years away.

TICK...TICK...TICK..

Hi Goh. Totally agree with you.

.Com : Past, Present and the Future

Probable distant second : .biz

No other existing TLD looks set to give .com any sort of competition.

I'm confidant over the next few years there will be two dominant extensions. Dot com and country domains. Most companies can only realistically service/sell their products in their area or nationally. If you live outside of the U.S. its usually a crapshoot if that dotcom services where you live. Country domains eliminates this hit and miss situation on the consumer.

I see actual registrations for a country as follows:

U.S.A.
.com first with .us a distant 2nd. Because .com is so closely associated with doing business in the U.S., .us will always play 2nd class

Balance of countries in the world
country domains first with .com 2nd

.net/.biz/.info will for the most part be compliments of .coms

As sure as the euro will pass the dollar, .eu will pass .com, and become #1.

Just hang on, it will not be pretty.... as for me, I'm going down with the ship.

Abrams No chance EVER the .eu will even become associated with the top dog domains.

Not in this life time at least !!! I don't see .de, .fr, .it, .gr, .co.uk etc having the least interest in it.

Europe is so unorganized and ununited, even though its known as the european Union...Even other countries fight its battles for them ...

That statement has already lost ground.... lets see how far the .EU will go. I think it has a strong chance of succeeding ;-) it has had too much press to fail. Plus its being backed up by govs and The European Union which is moving all its stuff to .EU.

It will be very interesting watching .eu

At this point I cant imagine anyone paying top dollars for domains in .eu . Yes the landrush will be big but for example a year from now what will YOU be willing to pay for a .eu name? you can be very creative and invent a good .com for any company.
