For anyone that uses Dotregistrar, I want to shed some light on their "DomainCar.com" operation.

I want to mention I have been using Dotregistrar for years, and have been happy with them; they are my favorite registrar.

With Dotregistrar, you have 30 days to renew your domain after the expiry date, for the reg. fee.

After that, the name slips into Redemption phase, unless of course Dotregistrar decides that they want to renew the domain for themselves.

As many of you know, DomainCollection.com is the selling arm of Dotregistrar.

However, if they renew your about-to-hit-Redemption domain for themselves, they put the whois info as "DomainCar.com", but it is clearly Dotregistrar. If you inquire of Domaincar.com, they will not answer, and if you inquire of DomainCollection of a DomainCar.com-owned domain, they will tell you that the domain is not for sale.

Just a little FYI..... this is why you don't see many real good Dotregistrar names passing through Redemption and into Pending Delete and then dropping. It is because Dotregistrar keeps the good names for themselves.

Thanks for the information.

Do you have any information about their domwish back order service. Has anybody had any success grabbing expiring domains with dr?

dotreg charges a 1 DRY admin fee, whether you get the name or not, so I wonder if it actually catches anything?

thanks
