Hey gang,

Rumor has it that Dotster is going to be taking .com/.net/.org registrations for $1 for one hour on Valentine's Day (4-5 p.m. U.S. Eastern time). If you visit their homepage now, you'll see a clock counting down to "happy hour." That's the time the $1 regs will supposedly start.

Word is that you'll only be able to reg 1 domain per order, but that multiple orders will be possible. I hope more details (about any restrictions) will be available then.

Cheers,
randomo (no connection to Dotster)

actually in 4 hours and 15 minutes...lol

Wonder what the happy hour will be :)

Appearantly, acc. to their customer service you can order ONE $1 domain per account. Others think it's up to 5...

They don't accept PayPal, so it needs to be funded with a CC.

If it's 1 per account, forget it - not worth the hassle of adding another registrar to my list!

(I recall when Register.com had a brief period of unlimited $1 regs, about 7 or 8 (?) years ago ... lovely memory!)

site overloaded so none of this matters until load decreases

seems Dotster is having hard time handling all the traffic...i wish they could forward lil bit traffic to my parked pages ;-)

yea my pages start to load and then dissapear?

Damn, it's pretty bad, I've been regging a domain for 5 minutes now.

the saying "what you pay is what you get" comes to mind LOL

true. 15 minute wait using a high speed cable connection and then
after selecting the name i wanted, it appears and shows done but errors on the page and can not proceed to checkout--what a joke. dotster confirms once again they can not handle any substantial volume of business.

Site down the ENTIRE hour.

Oh well.

My order fell thru what a joke. Dotster is a jokester.
