Actually. biz is a logical domain for business. Currently the 10th leading extension in the world. Over 2 million domains registered globally. Sleeping giant.

Agree, e.biz is pretty awesome name.

2.biz at $5,801 was the cheapest of the numeric domains, yet just perhaps developed along the lines of biz.2.biz could make this a little sleeper!

Internet . biz
Mobile . biz
ecommerce/electronic . biz

I like those there a lot as well, if I had the budget for them, would of definitely put a bid in on those three..

I agree exactly with biggedon ~ these are going to be great investment domains.

Okay...I'll 'fess up to buying M.biz...

Actually, initially, I wasn't going to bid on these.....But, I changed my mind....Here's my thinking re buying it for 15k:

I agree, of course, single-letter .biz has NO prospects for parking revenue...Nor, likely to have much prospect in terms of domainer reseller profit value (tho, who knows, eventually?) etc etc...ie the easier avenues for a ROI...

So, to leverage them, they HAVE to be branded. Not everyone's cup of tea......But, imo, some (eg e.biz) - but, not all - of these single letter domains offer huge opportunity.

For me, M.biz, was one that has good possibilities...:

* Its a gTLD

* 5 MILLION exact Google Keyword Search Tool results for the term, "M", per month....So, people search for the term, in huge numbers

* Over 3 BILLION Google returns for the term, "M"....So, possible end user sale.

* The term could represent any number of vast lucrative markets:

- Mobile
- Money
- Music
- Movies
- Marketing
- Management/Managers
- Marriage
- Motorsport

etc etc

Google doesn't care what the extension is, if you develop a domain...And, in this case, the 'biz' potentially works for it, imo....If one is considering a brandable, then M.biz is as good an opportunity as any, imo.

I guess, in the end, I reckoned it was worth paying 15k for this opportunity - rather than what, say, $15k might buy me in .com, or any other gTLD.

Here's an example of an outfit, for example, that brands itself as 'M.Net' (for 'Mobile) - and, is on the front page of Google, in Australia - tho, its url is 'mnetcorporation':

Home | m.Net Corporation.com

I know not everyone agrees this is a good investment....But, I'll see if I can make something of the opportunity it affords...

You dog!

Indeed, m for Mobile.biz is what I had in mind when I made the statement the best seemed to be e, i, and m.

Congrats.

I am not a big fan of the extension but can see the value in branding.

most definitely got meat over the bones to be there.. so you did the right thing!

Just think of it as a birthday pressy for self and enjoy it's ownership while you can, looking for development opportunities, maybe its new owner or an end user who will hand you xxxx times hefty profit!!!

Congrats on a great buy!!

I also looked but wasn't going over $5-6k on an alpha domain. Nice buy though DTalk. And agree that e.Biz is a sweet domain.

you'd have to ask Overstock.com what they want for it

the domain is obviously not for sale

my question is how much they paid for it

My understanding is that Neustar awarded the domain to Overstock through an RFP competition. RFP is an acronym for "request for proposal".

In other words Overstock did not necessarily purchase the domain but rather submitted a proposal to develop, market, and use O.biz in exchange for the domain.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, guys, for your encouraging words on the buy...:)

The link's getting a 'Server not Found' message for me, biggedon.

If its yours, any chance you could fix it, please? I'd love to see it...
