For the record this is the first post I have made on this thread.

The cut price domains are only available as ASCII. IDN which is where China sees its future has not been discounted. Please think twice before you join the ranks of those registering utter garbage as ASCII.cn.

As for the rest of it, work it out for yourselves. I have spent the last three years trying to point the way. It seems that everyone is now "discovering" China, although most seem to be struggling to see things as they are. Once NameMedia have been around a the block a few times they will pick up their sense of direction.

The dawn of a multi-cultural/multi-lingual internet is upon us. The significance of the US as the Locomotive of the World Economy is ebbing away as we speak. The opportunities are huge, the time is short and for many the direction is still unclear.

Some have suggested that for really good terms, it may be worth investing in BOTH the ascii.cn and the idn.cn and/or idn.com.

Most domainers feel safer registering IDN.com as there is a small possiblity that the Chinese government could someday take back a .cn (if they felt it necessary) for any number of business or political reasons.

For really good terms, you are not going to get either unless you are prepared to dig deep and buy them. For dot coms you are likely to have to dig even deeper.
