Ebay v Sedo ?

O.K wheres the best place to sell ? i would of thought ebay because there will be endusers as well as domainers there ? or am i wrong ?

100% wrong about ebay, ebay is by far the worst place to sell domains... some debate that ebay is a good place to sell your junk! I disagree, junk will sell much faster on domain forums then ebay! on ebay you have to pay to list a domain, on domain forums its FREE!

I know this, after several attempts to sell domains on ebay! failed miserably and lost money on fees! same domains sold instantly on domain forums!

ebay is a scam central for all domain scammers, they list stolen domains, etc!

ebay sucks!

Congrats, that is a healthy profit from ebay! Maybe times have changed and im wrong

IMHO Ebay and Sedo can't even be compared. Sedo is a domain marketplace, eBay is a place you go to pick up some old NES consoles and maybe a pair of vintage sneakers. :smilewinkgrin:

yeah i know what your saying but surely ebay has the best of both world ? domainers and endusers ?

I've sold only 1-2 domains on SEDO (out of a portfolio of over 100 listed) and bought/sold over 15-20 on eBay.

eBay has a much wider range of potential clients... while that also means a much wider array of risk, it can be mitigated. Know your buyer and use your transaction closing method (wire transfer, escrow, PayPal whatever) accordingly.

i think this is completely depending on which kind of domains you are selling, newly regged 5 letter.com; well ebay could do pretty well, but for premium domain such as LLL.coms and generics they cant be compared, sedo has got a wide range of domain investors and is well known for everyone in the business, if i were an investor with a huge budget i would not dare to buy expensive names through ebay...

The problem with sedo is that you have to have a bid before you cab put into auction as where ebay you can bang it in right away.........and also you have to wait longer to be paid from sedo.......i think for cheaper domains ebay could be the way to go but for more expensive ones sedo......

How exactly do you sell domains on ebay? Is it just like selling any item?

I'm interesting in that since sedo refused all of my domains (I don't get that).

The last few posts are quite interesting (and I agree)... I have never had serious success listing a blue chip generic domain on eBay, but far more on specialized venues such as SEDO (and even moreso, on sites such as DNF and similar)..

I think eBay is worth it for midrange domains ($x to low $xxxx) again with plenty of due diligence regardless of whether you're buying or selling.

If your domain is a good one it is just as likely to be noticed on ebay as it is on SEDO.

You pay less fees on ebay. Transactions can be wrapped up quicker. You actually have some decent recourse for non paying bidders..

Never sold any on Sedo, but got tons of lowball offers.

Year or two ago, listed two, $1K each reserved, sold one.
Most I could get from here would be about $100
Used Escrow.com and got the money in less than 10 days.

One of these days, I'll try eBay again.

Bottom line?
It doesn't matter where you try to sell.
Luck has much to do with it, I think

Ebay..you can sell crappy domains then say click-$10 dollars per click and noobs will pay 900 dollars for it.
People buy freaking trademarked domain googleclicks.com google products.com for at least 30+
where was on dnforums or dp..people won't pay for it as legal issues.

Ebay=N00BS who bid low...but if you convince them its good they will pay for it.
I sold few domains on it that i couldn't see on dp...personally i can't sell on sedo nor dnforums yet.
