In light of the current recession, over 500,000 people are losing their jobs every month in the US. My employment site provides job applications and interview tips for a variety of jobs. With an additional site in spanish, englishonthejob.com ranks in google on the front page or at least the second page for these words:

quiznos application
pizza hut employment application
printable job applications
taco bell employment application
extreme home makeover application
subway job application

I have uploaded stats from the past year here: http://www.englishonthejob.com/english-stats.JPG

The site was off line in Jan. 09 and for a week or 2 in Feb because I added the additional site in spanish version of the site and because of an idea of packaging all the applications in a download, along with "interviewing tips and tricks" and selling them in a
"Job hunter" package. Just an idea, but I don't have the time right now.

That's a great question. Truthfully, because the domain is over 8 years old, PR3 and has organic rankings, no advertising and solid traffic, I would think its worth at least a couple hundred if not more...

Just to note, englishonthejob.com also has 1st page rankings for these additional terms:
application for extreme makeover
sample credit application
example scholarship application
papa johns application
sample scholarship application
pizza hut application
kfc applications
taco bell application
pizza hut online application
thanks

In terms of advertising and generating traffic, 90% of the traffic is
natural/organic (comes from google, yahoo and msn searches for the terms I
provided before), but the remaining 10% comes from inbound text links and
every now and then I may post a couple ads on free sites like craigslist,
etc. About 5-6 months ago, I paid a cheap Indian marketing company $30 to
list the site on a couple "free" websites, but I got hip to what they were
doing and did it myself for a week.

Hosting is only $20 for the entire year. Its paid up until September 09.
So you basically get 5 months of free hosting..

In terms of time and money spent on maintenance, upkeep and advertising,
all the time, energy and money has already been spent in building the site,
optimizing each page separately and adding the additional site in
spanish.

My philosophy is "set it and forget it". Remember, the site is 8 years
old. So the individual pages of the site have been deeply embedded in
search engines for years. Also google gives search priority to all
domains over 5 years old.

I hope this helps...
If you have any other questions please let me know....
