I think the very same.
English word here is OK, as mostly tourists would be looking for such kind of info.
If the business is allowed by Japan authorities, I would say five figures (in US$) would not be impossible.

dotster.co.jp or just dotster.jp @ $50 a piece, this is the best value i've seen so far... let us know if anyone finds anywhere cheaper!!

You have to either reside in Japan of have business interests to register a co.jp, the .jp extention on the other hand is available for anyone to register regardless of what country you reside in!

The .Com extention is the first choice for all Countrys!

To my knowledge? there are aprox 8 Dialects to the Japanese langauge... the most commonly spoken is that of Tokyo.

If there wasn't a call for english text domains in Japan then WarnerBros wouldn't have bothered setting up the site... harrypotter.jp... they would have spelt it using Japanese text.
