I once turned down a gazumping offer of £1000 on a domain because I had recieved a cheque for £500 for it.

Would you do the same ?

Without hesitation. If you sell shares in IBM for $80 one day, and two hours later it goes up to $83, the broker would laugh at you if you tried to renege on the trade.

Once you agree on a price for something with another party, verbal or written, you are in a CONTRACT that must be honored. This is the law, and especially true if the other party has already paid you.

I saw an interesting .net up for appraisal here awhile ago, the .com was free, so I regged it.
The owner of the .net emailed wanting to buy the .com.
He 'discovered' the name, so I just gave him the .com for free.
He promised to reg all of his domains through me.
He kept registering dn's, but not through me, and I kept answering all of his questions.
His site has a high Alexa ranking and he offered to add a link to my site.
I think he kept the link up about a month.
lol
I still think its always worth it to be the good guy.

'I never buy from anyone with a single negative on eBay'.
