.eu Europe address

I was just curious...
Is it not possible to give out any fake Europe address to purchase a .eu domain?
Are there any consequences when trying to resell them later?
Or does Eurid.eu send a letter to that address to verify?

just a note:
1) I havent received any mail regarding my .eu's at my european home address.
2) PM sent.

If no mail is sent, doesn't that mean Eurid doesn't really verify if the address is real?
Anyone living outside EU can give out a European address and say it's their address.
