Just got an email from EuroDNS:

"Pre-order your .NINJA ... But don't wait too long, as we think this domain name is going to be huge."

... really?
No, really??
Somebody working in the domain industry really believes that .NINJA is going to be huge???
... I call BULLSHIT!

Hmm... on second thoughts maybe I should register:

AsbestosLawyer.ninja
MesotheliomaAttorney.ninja
PersonalInjuryLawsuit.ninja
AutomobileAccident.ninja
AnnuitySettlements.ninja

... what do you think? ;p

Ah.....no.
Cook.ninja?

For Japan? Mmmm...highly doubt it.
Maybe for some software but not for any industry, geo, or person's name.
The spelling doesn't coincide with the Japanese language:
にんじゃ is spelled as "ninjYa". Not ninja. This may only target the English-speaking countries. Don't be dumb and waste money on Tokyo.ninja or cool.ninja. I think its equivalent to .guru

Probably only 5 names that makes sense with .ninja. Sword.ninja, Karate.ninja, and maybe a few others... When is this going to stop? Can't get mad though, good business move by the registries... If I could find a way to sell a useless product and make millions of dollars I would do it too. Don't hate the player, hate the game...

Oh come on now ... Of course all the ninja's in the world want their name.ninja.
It's part of the stealth thing. Goes with their black robes.

Errr... No, wait. ;-)

did a check...
sushi.ninja $999
tokyo.ninja (reserved)
shinobi.ninja (the actual name of 'ninja'. no one refers to these people as 'ninjas' in Japan. they say 'shinobi')
clan.ninja $199
assassin.ninja $499
elite.ninja $999
sake.ninja $499 (wth does 'sake' have to do with ninja!?)
hack.ninja $999
shop.ninja $999 (buy ninjas online here...really!?)
gamer.ninja $499

BUT...for Japan...
nihon.ninja $24 (meaning for 'japan')
nippon.ninha $24 (another meaning for 'japan')
jonin.ninha $24 (elite/famous shinobi)
nagato.ninja $24 (famous jonin)
koga.ninha $24 (famous shin obi clan)
iga.ninja $24 (famous shin obi clan)
and so on......

so if the Japanese are not buying these domains...why should we??
this domain extension is obviously aimed to only the engRish-speaking peoples.
.ninja is blowing smoke up English-speakers ninja butt

A good bit of research there, MobileDesigner, but I was really just making a joke. The only one there I would bother registering is "sushi.ninja", and I'm still not entirely sure "sushininja.com" wouldn't be better...

It was just the way that registrars come out with these meaningless statements like ".NINJA is going to be huge", lol

I can't think of a more pointless extension

I think the new gTLDs look to satisfy different needs of the market ;) It is actually interesting to see that .GURU already has more than 50,000 regs and counting..there are lots of excited domain registrants out there who are coming to the market. This might be a defining moment for new domainers :)

Mr Domains, I was reinforcing your side. Theres no way anyone would reg such a domain...but i wouldn't be surprised if someone did...

You can buy the best looking property, even build the most elaborate store on it, but if that property is located somewhere out in the middle of the desert.. it is worthless. Don't be .fooled!

jonathan...that's ingwish.

Are you still in Japan?

Love the LuxuryBJ concept.

You've got it all wrong, guys.

ninja.ninja is the way to go

(but I'll pass on that)

This domain extension is going to kick azz!!!
:)
