We've heard through the grapevine that a major domain owner is initiating legal action against Dodora, claiming that the registrar actually took one of his names and sold it on the open market! We've heard complaints about registrars losing domains through lax security, or returning them to a previous registrar (without even notifying the current owner) when claims of theft have been made - but this is the first time we have heard allegations of a registrar selling a name from a customer's portfolio!

That's bizarre, but I think I'm safe. I can't even sell my own names let alone the registrar doing it :-D

Would not surprise me with dodo. Remember when that dodo wackjob was spamming the forums, and was banned multiple times? Idiots.

Duke,

The particular situation to which you refer, has been resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned. Dodora has reimbursed its customer the amount that the customer had earlier quoted for sale of the domain name, and also reimbursed the cost of recovering the amount in question. Accordingly, no legal action is being initiated or maintained against Dodora arising from this incident.

Thanks for the update John. I am glad to hear that. I will post an addition to the item about this incident I had published at DNJournal.com to reflect resolution of the matter.

At one point, Dodora didn't even have a public WhoIs, in violation of ICANN rules.

Dodora blows! This is just my opinion.

Everyone makes mistakes. It is how you deal with your mistakes which counts. In this instance Dodora addressed the problem to the satisfaction of all parties concerned.

Has anyone had similar problems with any registrars other than Dodora? :bandit:

Curious minds want to know ...

Thanks,
Sheila
