I have been following a domain that expired on July 1st, 2008... Now, over 57 days later the domain is still displaying the following information:

Record created on: 2006-07-01 UTC
Record expires on: 2008-07-01 UTC

The ICANN registrar is: FABULOUS.COM PTY LTD.
Registrar Status: redemptionPeriod

I can only backorder it at Snapnames and it is not listed anywhere on Fabulous.com. Does anyone else know where the heck this domain is so I can bid on it? Or how I am going to be able to snatch it? It does not appear to be renewed either? What could possibly be taking this thing so long to drop?

Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, but I suppose my question is... Why has it been in redemption for so long? It's been over 57 days now, and shouldn't have lasted much longer than 30 days. This thing should have already gone to drop. Does anyone have a clue what is up with this thing?

The drop process takes time. It is also likely this domain will go to a "partner" first.

From my understanding, fabulous.com is now sending their expired domains to NameJet.com . You might want to check the Pre-Release section at NJ.

An example, domains that start auctions tomorrow (have to be backordered today) expired on 7-25-2008

So it is likely the domain you are interested in, did not get a backorder and will be a little bit of time before it drops. Backorder at Pool.com, SnapNames.com and Namejet.com for your best shot at getting it.

Did it drop for you yet?

Do not backorder the name at NameJet. If you backorder the name at NameJet - you will tell everyone else about it. Do not backorder at the last minute at NJ as someone could still bid at snap, and you will have told them all about it.

There is an exception to the above. If somene else is bidding at NJ, then you might as well stay at NJ. But if you are the sole bidder - get out of Dodge!

Now - pretty much the same at snap and pool.

Both use your backorder to tell others about the name.

However, if you backorder at the last minute, you should be ok. 13.30 EST for snap and 14.00 EST for Pool. But I would go 13.00 and 13.30 for the two.

I would use NJ in advance - at least two days - to tell you if there are other bidders. Remember to delete the domain from your NJ account after you find out the interest!

Hope this helps,

If it's being pre-released at Namejet, then only namejet bidders will be eligible to participate in the auction. Can anyone else confirm Fabulous sends its unwanted children to Namejet? :D

Sorry for the lack of updates... It appears on the 60th day, it finally went through. I ended up getting the name at Snapnames and then reselling it a few days later for 5x my purchase price. :D

Gotta love domaining!

Sure. There were no legal implications or anything, just the right place at the right time. I have sent you a PM.
