Feline named Katrina triggers $25 million donation to LSU

BATON ROUGE -- The love of a cat named Katrina and a couple's sensitivity to the plight of their home state during Hurricane Katrina led to the largest donation to date to the LSU Forever campaign.

Emmet and Toni Stephenson, both natives of Bastrop, watched in horror from their Colorado home at the television images of what Hurricane Katrina did to Southeast Louisiana.

Sweethearts at the Purple Martin Kindergarten in Bastrop, they were separated when Toni Lynn Edwards' family moved off in the military. They reconnected when both entered LSU as freshmen in 1963. After they married in 1967, Emmet went on to the Harvard Business School for an MBA, and then they moved to Denver.

One of the more successful businessmen to come out of LSU, Emmet made a fortune in investments, banking, investment management and publishing. Toni did well in publishing and founded a communications firm, later also obtaining a Harvard business executive's degree.

They hit gold, however, in registering generic domain names....

(The story continues but doesn't mention which domain names they had).

to bad it doesn't mention the portfolio
