FIGHTS.com (1,537 Overture with extension / about 500 people a day)

Let me know how you would develop this one if this was your domain.

This is a good name you are sure to get $XXX,XXX for it. If I were you I would make a sports betting site primarily on boxing. Really good domain one of the best I have seen here on DNForum.

I have it forwarding to my mixed martial arts site (brawl.com) for now...until I can figure out what to do with it.

Boxing
Gambling

Those are the two most obvious development paths.

I'm sure a majority of the typins are people looking for street fights. Has a wide variety of uses for professional or street fighting including news, fight schedules, DVD store and more. BTW, thanks for copying, and thanks for the ban! =)

Duncan, I'm not about to get into it. TN knows what I am referring to, let's leave it at that.

Anyway, Fights.com low to mid $xx,xxx. Nice name to build a brand around. I would go for a fight DVD store.

Not get into it? You mentioned it in MY thread.

I offered him $2,400 for his forum and $2,600 to mod the forum for a year ($5,000 in all for a domain he paid $250 for). He said he didn't want to sell it. I mentioned to him that I had planned to launch a forum myself, but it was the last thing I had scheduled for brawl.com....anyway, when I did launch the forum, he got upset that I had the same color scheme. Now, keep in mind we're talking about the colors of the menu bars...not custom graphics or copied categories....3 stupid colors. I tried to be nice and explained to him that black, white and red are my logo colors and that we had different catagories anyway. He posted in my forum he thought I copied...so I banned his IP address from my server. I don't have time to waste on such a stupid thing as forum colors. The fact he's still wasting my time with this is amazing. The funny thing is I would have advertised with him now that I purchased fights.com and my focused has shifted away from a forum...but there is no way I would pay him for a banner ad now. We could have even swapped links (to his advantage as brawl.com is getting more than 1,200 visitors a day and it's been open as an MMA site 8 days). I spent $62,000 on fights.com, thousands more for LICENSED fights, a very large advertising budget and money is no object for me on this launch. I already have ads on Sherdog which is one of the largest MMA sites around (my banner ads are red, black and white...go figure...I guess I copied them as well) and I am in talks with a massive forum to partner with. Very short sighted on his part...all this over the colors red, black and white...I even had a different shade of red...mine was #C80000.

"not get into it" as in not go public. You are the one that over-reacted by banning...Although 9 out of 10 people would say that your forum looked strikingly similar to mine, you explained your choice of colors.

My response "My first impression was that the forums looked very similar. No big deal."

You reacted by banning me? I was going to your site to become a paying customer untill I saw your forum. The fact that you banned me made me really think your intentions were just to copy my site when you couldn't buy it.

If you were offering me that kind of money for the FightForum.com in the state it was when I paid $250 for it (use archive.org), then I would gladly accept. What you offered was hardly worth the work and promotion that has gone into it, so don't act like I was being unreasonable.

I wouldn't be the sligthest bit worried about losing members if you advertised on my site, simply because you are out-classed. That is one thing $62,000 can't buy.

No, get the facts straight. I replied to your first post explaning the color of my logo was why I picked my color scheme. You then posted you thought I copied...so I didn't want any more negative posts in my forum so I banned you. I think that may be a record...a banning in the first few hours of being open. :)

We both had a vBulletin site with a right column. There must be thousands of sites configured like that. I'm not going to change my color scheme to please you. We had different catagories, different header configurations and I didn't use the forum logos to avoid any problems. Besides, it was launched for only a few hours and I still had 3 or 4 mods to install that would have made it look very different than your site. Your forum is almost stock...how can you really think I copied your site when all that was the same was 3 colors? Get real man.

Out classed? LOL You posted negative comments in my forum...and said "thanks for copying" in this forum. Why didn't you just email me your concerns from the start rather than make it public in a forum I just launched? What you did has no class at all. The fact you're insulting me in public speaks volumes about your class. This is too funny. :clown:

Good domain. I'd value it at $40,000 raw and maybe twice that after it has been given time to develop. Then, it really depends on how much revenue it can throw off.

I know the owner of boxing.com and that is obviously the superior name. However, fights.com is great as well with a pretty broad market.

Best wishes with the domain.

I offered $100,000 for boxing.com...talk to him...I'll still buy it and you get a commission :)

I was never told, but I would imagine they easily earn that in one year off boxing.com. I doubt you'll get anywhere near a domain like that for 1 x annual rev. :)

I sold them one of their high profile domains. They like to buy at "fair" prices -- I know that. In terms of selling, I don't know that they've sold many domains for less than "top" prices.

Based on the ads, I was thinking he might make $20K tops. Isn't that a Kanoodle feed? I thought they had very low keyword bids.

No, I believe they partner with Overture. They are getting a good cut. Highest bid around .28 cents for boxing. Not a whole lot, but match that up with the draw of the domain. Many will filter down into their other categories where they might generate higher PPC.

Nearly 6.5k ovt w/ext. ? Plus there is huge organic value in the term "boxing". Much more than 20k per year in my opinion. $100k is a great bid. But I doubt it will be accepted.

I never even got a reply to my $100,000 offer :)

I assumed it might be low, but without knowing the traffic info, it's hard to make an offer higher that that.
