The .org is at #1 on Google.com, I don't see the .com anywhere. As for the Alexa ranking it's definitely a method to gauge traffic. At 14 million its traffic is questionable.
Archive.org entry from 2009 http://web.archive.org/web/20090225201458/http://filmclub.com/ shows a different type of content. So where are those 800 pages at?

Whatever I may be seeing, hundreds of type-ins a month and dozens of sign-ups to list festivals, films etc

google has many data centres and in Asia and LA I see similar serps

(if there's nothing on the tube) just look at how many film clubs there are and how many distinct country domains, like filmclub.nl .es. de etc etc

Again, I am not judging the name; I simply question your claim that it's #1 or even #4 in Google - it's not.
Also, traffic seems to be lower per the Alexa rating, unless you can provide some Awstats or other numbers.

The term film club has only 12,100 exact searches a month.. Where ever its ranked for that term on any search engine is not important.. It has a low search term in the scheme of things for that price IMHO.

It has only got 2 backlinks according to site explorer which is also a little weird since the site has 636 indexed pages...

It is a PR3 and has a Alexa ranking of 7,831,000 today.. So it has jumped up in rankings over 7,000,000 since you posted this, which shows that the site has had more traffic than its ever had since you tried to sell it here. IMHO

Its a nice name no doubt, but I think thats all that is really for sale here.

Things do not add up IMO.
