Hi Simon, from my point of view the .asia tld could be a nice tld as it bringing variety meaning to Asian people. If you are developing the site which targeting Asian market/people, I guess it is a nice .tld after the .com/.net which already "boomed".
Personally I just registered few .asia tld as the price is not cheap. There is tons of premium .asia waiting you to pick up.
