Simply because it's a contradiction to offer "first class domains" at a site that uses anything but a first class domain for themselves.
Hint - .info and .biz no matter what you think of them for sure ain't first class - that's still .com

Honestly, I don't see what is so first class about a name that is the bread-and-butter of the .common folks.

.com is commonly known, that's all there is.

Most money makes the extension that is most commonly known.
Most commonly known is .com
