I started domaining about 11 months ago and I just sold my very first domain this week: BirminghamAlabamaHomes.com for $200. I picked it up from E.D about 3 months ago.

I strongly believe this was an outbound-driven sale. I reached out and followed up although I didn’t receive any direct responses showing clear interest. Still, the result eventually came through.

At the moment, I have a small portfolio of 8 domains, 3 geo-related names and 5 exact-match domains. Of course, I plan to gradually expand this over time.

One thing I’ve consistently told myself is this: whatever I may lack in portfolio size I will make up for through consistent outbound effort. This first sale feels like a validation of that mindset. Outbound still works. Alhamdulillah.

To anyone still waiting for their first sale. Keep putting in the work, stay consistent, and the results will eventually follow.

P.S I am still learning the ropes in the industry.

Congrats on the first sale. It also proves that your process can work. Now the next step is just improving the targeting and repeating what worked. Nice to see some persistence pay off.

Thanks for sharing, and good luck with the next sale.

Quick question out of curiosity:
When you set your initial outbound price, how do you decide what to ask for? Any rule of thumb or just a gut feeling?

Also, out of everyone you email, roughly how many even reply?
And when someone does buy, is it usually through a marketplace like Sedo/Afternic, or do you go direct?

Just trying to learn from real experience, tks.

1. The outbound price was influenced by a mixture of comparable sale price and gut feeling.

2. For this domain none replied. But for some of my other domains what I get most times is "Not interested"

3. I have listed all my domains on market places. This one sold via Afternic.

Thanks for commenting.
