If hell froze over and I could walk on water, I'd still avoid them like the plague if they gave out 100 free domains.

Run, don't walk.

Seriously? Why is that? Are they so bad in customer service? Or it's just their price so unreasonable?

I had a domain for 6 months with them and had invested $45,000 in development when Register.com took the name back claiming, "an internal audit has determined you did not win this domain 6 months ago, that the true registrant secured the name 1/640th of a second before you."

Yeah, that's why. And all the way up to the President I was stonewalled.

Wow, no wonder you hated them so much.

So you won the domain at an auction or something? 'cause I'm sure if you hand-registered it, the story would be different.

Did you win the domain at some kind of auction at register.com?

It sounds like you should transfer the domain away to another registrar as soon as you get it in this kind of case to avoid this happening.
