I'm a former sportscaster and talk host in Miami, who loves his Dolphins, but pissed-off local fans by arguing that the '76 Steelers would've crushed the undefeated '73 Dolphins. How then, could I possibly resist claiming these two hall of famers off the waiver wire?!?!?!

Sorry, TopNames.

January 18, 1976
Super Bowl X
Pittsburg Steelers 21, Dallas Cowboys 17
Orange Bowl, Miami, Florida

The Raaaaid-duhs won it in '77.

January 9, 1977
SuperBowl XI
Oakland Raiders 32, Minnesota Vikings 14
Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California

... and my mother and her Canasta game buddies could've beaten the Vikings :)

The '76 Raiders won the Superbowl (XI played in 1977, but it was the 1976 season. The 74 & 75 Steelers won the Superbowl.

Confusing, indeed ... but the NFL officially crowns its champion in perpetuity during the calendar year in which the Super Bowl is played.

We've neither forgotten nor forgiven that Anthony Davis miracle playoff catch, with Stabler falling to his knees, which ended the Dolphins' dynasty era. Still, I'll be happy to take FredBiletnikoff.com, if you put it on waivers. :)
