Can you tell me if the registry is allowing 25 free infos per registrant at each registrar offering this promotion? My concern is that they might charge me at wherever on the first 25 regs I did after finding out I regged 25 more at Flynames etc.

I asked the registry the same question and they said to ask the registrars.
Sheesh

Is FlyNames a reseller or a direct registrar?

IT is areseller. Most participating registrars require a cc (please do not make this thread a comparison of services). This one requires no cc, money transfer or check. I do urge you to check out the Pricing list FYI.

Remember this is an advertizing forum, if you need to discuss the benfits of added reseller value vs direct registrar, please use other thread.

Just wondering why it's using the ICANN Accreditation Logo even though it's just a reseller. But great prices though!

I just got a bill in the mail because I responded to one of these offers here and I didn't know that the registrar was a reseller of a registrar I had already hit my 25 name limit on.

Therefore it's VERY important that you post the name of the registrar you are reselling for, or you may end up having to pay someone's bill...

I've been checking back to see what your answer was to the questions posed here. I was interested and figured maybe you were checking with the registry or registrar.

So how does it work with flynames?

Warning! OK this is the kindof stuff I was worried about. Just got this email after registering my only 25 free infos at namesecure.com Looks like I'm one of the "legitimate" customers that got "caught in that situation" and they don't have the means to fix it? They hit me for $15 a name. Looks like a scheme to me.

Our system believes that you have already registered free .info domain names and therefore charged you for these. The system we have in place to check if someone has ordered 25 free .info domains is in place to keep people from opening extra accounts and try to register more domains. Unfortunately some legitimate customers get caught in this situation. We do not have any way to correct it at this time. So, what we can do is give you a refund and remove those domains or you can keep the domains but the charge will remain. Let me know what you want to do.

Now I needed those names for a project. They were picked out long ago and still available, so I thought why not. Now my choices are either pay the $15 each, or risk losing them when they "remove" them after my refund.

That's why we were asking these types of questions in this thread. How come no reply here from the thread starter?

Wow, that sucks big time, I am sorry to hear this.
I will take those NameSecure incompetents from my list of '25 free domains' registrars (on my site) immediatly.

Best,
Rob

from what I'm reading is "stocdoc" got free names from one registrar and then got some from another, who was a reseller of the initial registrar.

maybe he can shed more light on this experience.

if my assumptions are correct, then resellers who offer free .info domains should disclose their parent!
This should alleviate these excess charges.

I urge anyone who is a reseller or advertises for a reseller to assist in providing this info.

Hi bigge
Just to clarify my comments. The reseller questions above are true concerns, but my experience was with just 1 registrar (namesecure) and no reseller. In my case the 25 free infos booked showed $0 charge in the shopping cart, but then billed me at $15 each. There was no additional 25 booked. Namesecure just has some checking system that they admit makes errors and charges people who did NOT exceed the 25 free limit, but they won't fix it and you therefor only have the choice of losing the names or getting stuck with their inflated $15 per name. Who's to say this is really an error and not a way that they have of charging inflated rates on some or all orders placed by a number of customers?

Flynames are not associated with namesecure nor have we ever sent a bill to any of our customers for their free .info domains.

It appears that this offer has started an important discussion. However, it was not intended to be a global discussion of the shortcomings and implications of the free .info program. Apparently, I cannot speak for other registrars or misleading resellers.

If you are concerned about having registered more than the limit set forth with any ICANN registrar, please do not take advantage of this offer. After all, yoiu may be risking losing your .info domain names if you misuse the promotion.

PM me with specific questions and thank you for your interest.

I have no idea why TrafficMonsterRRR won't just say it is the cnobin registrar that backs his deal.

I posted that this was who was the reigstrar in a deal I posted earlier. This means you can not use both deals. I prefer people know this know then to deal with the fall out later myself.

Thank you to all who are taking advantage of this deal. I noticed some used their wives' names in addition to their own to create a second account to double their free domain names - LOL - I don't see anything wrong with that!

theparrot is right! We are both backed by the same registrar, so please sign up with EITHER one of us for the 25 .info promotion! Perhaps pricing may be a consideration if you ever decide to renew any of the info's :) Thank you, theparrot, for the post. -haven't checked your prices or cust. support yet but I am sure they are comprable hehe!

On a related subject, I deactivated the purchasing power of some of the accounts due to invalid whois info. You guys know the ICANN rules, so please be advised that mock accounts will have no shopping-cart checkout power (feel free to use them to test-drive the system).

As always thanks for the informative discussion and for your interest.
