Hi,

I am considering taking my online small business and filing for an LLC to seperate my personal life from my business life and add that extra layer of legal protection.

has anyone else made this decision and gone through with the switch?

Aloha!

Yes. I am currently setting mine up. Here is the deal for me though.... I already own an LLC. I own a record label here in Florida. SO....I am having to file a fict. name with the Dept. of State. (Energeo Records DBA ______)

It is very easy to do. Just simply visit the department of State...fill out the LLC papers(Costs $125 in Florida). THEN.....you will need to get an EIN(Employer ID Number) from the IRS. You can get this at IRS.gov. Finally...you will need to file with your county/city for an occupational license. This can be anywhere from $25 to about $150.

I hope that helps! PM me for more questions. :)
