I have one .name domains - lbj.name - and I am just wondering what your thoughts are on the future of the .name extension?

poor ...

to me , its the extention that does not count ...

I consider it a 'dead suffix'.

The future doesn't look very good for .name in terms of it's value or it's popularity. .name is a good extension for a personal sites only.

How it ever started in the first place is amazing.

i agree with 'no future' saying.

But why?? it came up with .biz,.info together???

why it became that poor???

Because it makes no sense at all. Trying to force generic keywords with .name is a complete joke on domainers. If people think forcing generics on .tv and .cc are bad, .name makes them look like champs. Info and biz are fine when used for their intended purpose, and allow a much wider span. The extension is a complete imbarassment to the industry me thinks.

i have a friend who likes .names and I tell him it's a waste of money. I guess its personal opinion but I don't think .name is good, never owned one prolly never will.

they are worthless, especially considering the restrictiions have when purchasing them:
.name restrictions
Registrations in the .name TLD must constitute an individual's "Personal Name". For purposes of the .name restrictions (the "Restrictions"), a "Personal Name" is a person's legal name, or a name by which the person is commonly known. A "name by which a person is commonly known" includes, without limitation, a pseudonym used by an author or painter, or a stage name used by a singer or actor.

One of the worst extensions to be introduced by ICANN ever! Makes me wonder why they rejected the .xxx extenstion yet let this .name crap go thru!!!

.name has no future

Future is .cc easy to write and most of people like it
