An applicant for .gay has lost its chance to get exclusive rights to the new gTLD, partly because the self-defined gay community it wants to represent is not "gay" enough.

Dotgay LLC is one of the four applicants under ICANN rules, for .gay
But the company failed in its attempt to pass a Community Priority Evaluation, scoring just 10 out of 16 available points and failing to reach the required 14-point passing threshold.

There's not such thing as "a little gay".

That's true. The expression meant that it could not meet the required threshold to get the gTLD. "Not gay enough" not to be taken literally.

Seems like this TLD will go to auction. Here is a link about the CPE (Community Priority Evaluation): http://newgtlds.icann.org/en/applicants/cpe
