actually its the plural of german speaking, as well as the form that is used to indicate that the noun it describes is female..German is not that easy..no value here IMO..its always tricky to reg domains in languages that one is not really speaking.., especially in German big google results can be misleading since the grammar is very tricky..only simple nouns and verbs in their basic form are a safe bet..

Thanks for the feedback. I am aware this is the plural form, I noticed the non-plural had only a fraction of the Search Results. Any clue as to why this is?

thanks

Any other appraisals welcome

Thats because the form you have here is the most frequently used when describing a noun in may forms within a sentence (depending on gender, time, and singular-plural) There are about 6 forms or so of "German speaking".

In English you just have the "ing" in German it can end with "g" "e" "er" "es" "en" "em" and mean the same thing, that the "e" ending that you have is the most frequently used in this case doesn't help as it sounds as odd as saying something like "speaks English" as a standalone.

To add a little more to the confusion: A few examples:

deutschsprachige Zeitung(en) - german language newspaper(s)
deutschsprachige Website - german language website
das deutschsprachige Mädchen - the german speaking girl

(note that websites are female whereas the girl is of neutral gender)

cheers,
Chris
