Ghost bidders lure you to the edge of the cliff and when you reach out they disappear in a wisp of foul smelling mist and leave you to fall to your death.

Have you encountered a ghost before?

Not sure...but I do know that they most likely keep your winnning percentages on record and how much you have bid in the past (wow what useful information to use against you). Slowely but surely they can inch the bid up on you and be quaranteed that you will pull ahead with a larger proxy bid. I mean who hates to loose especially on a name you want.

Other than identity theft do you know what the second highest crime was....AUCTION FRAUD!!

FTC does look into these things and I think the auction process should be a little more open to the public.

The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop and avoid them. To file a complaint or to get free information on consumer issues, visit www.ftc.gov or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261. The FTC enters Internet, telemarketing, identity theft and other fraud-related complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure, online database available to hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad.

But, Clem, Pool is a Canadian company. It would be the responsibility of the Candadian govt. to investigate them.

All the FTC could do is request an inquiry.

Auction frauds can happen everywhere, online and offline. :-(

When in doubt, do not participate to minimize loss. If your sure it's fraud, collect all the evidences you have and report to the appropriate authorities. Just my 2 cents.

That's EXACTLY what certain parties want to hear, imho. Bring on the WLS, Verisign. ICANN, how much more prove do you need that domain relegation is all controlled by speculators. What a shameful failure by the so-called governing body to prevent the biggest mockery of domain relegation the world has ever known.

No wonder the UN wants you OUT, bludy useless bunch of self-serving monkeys.

Mole, do you think the UN could do a better job?

Or, do they just want the money from it?

Again, I don't want bidding for WLS slots.

Thanks. That's like when people complain NW/Pool, then there's still SnapNames or Godaddy? Any other ways to stop the WLS bidding?

BTW, WLS has not yet started, but the eNom WLS preorder has already heated up a bit. The WLS slot for KOD.com is at $501.

I forgot about that....Good strategy to setup shop right accross the US border offshore and be out of harms way from any type of regulation.
