Ghrelin has long been known to be the hunger-causing hormone in the human body and has been linked to obesity and suspected to be connected with some obesity related diseases such as diabetes. Obestatin is a hormone discovered in 2005 that was originally tested in mice and found to counteract ghrelin and thus has been suspected to help control/suppress the things ghrelin can cause like hunger. Some studies done since have indicated possibility of otherwise, but the simple fact is that the hormone was discovered only about 3 years ago and much testing still needs to be done.
