I sat down with my daughter Sarah yesterday to talk further about GirlMedia.com. There’s nothing quite like a weekly scheduled meeting to ensure that things are progressing forward with the fledgling business.
Right now we have a growing pool of content that discusses a whole range of issues that girls would relate to. They are chatty, fun and informative and most of all they are written in the manner that a teenager would write.
The site layout, isn’t brilliant but it’s adequate. It has a lot of functionality that would potentially get people to start to engage both the content and more importantly each other.
So what was the meeting about? How to make money from the site in line with the previous business targets in the cashflow and the second was how we were going to increase the traffic.
Making Money
The website is designed to make money from advertising and so we applied the 4P’s marketing principle that Sarah learned in university.
- Product (advert slot)
- Price (how much for the slots)
- Placement (where are they on the site)
- Promotion (how are we going to get advertisers).
