SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Jan. 13, 2010) – Go Daddy is donating a half-a-million dollars to help victims of yesterday’s earthquake in Haiti. Go Daddy’s philanthropic CEO and Founder Bob Parsons initiated the move immediately after learning about the high magnitude earthquake in Haiti.

“The moment we saw the news, we knew we had to help,” Parsons said. “This devastating earthquake killed thousands and thousands of people and conditions for survivors are deplorable. Those of us not affected by this disaster need to step up – we at Go Daddy feel it’s our duty to lead the way.”

Now which registrar in the world does this? Only GoDaddy!

If I'm not mistaken, if you play poker on Zynga you can also donate through hope.

For a while Zynga has been taking donations though Farmville. What you'd have to do is buy some FV bucks (used to purchase special items) and then purchase one of their items (or unlock an item) for Haiti relief - they've been doing this for a while now so it wouldn't surprise me if they kicked it up a few notches.

Zynga.org is where they have the information on this (their official website is Zynga.com).

Congratulations to Go Daddy for their leadership, courage and generosity in the face of what is likely an epic disaster.

Initial estimates are 50,000 dead but I heard actual numbers may be 250,000 to 500,000.

Impressive Parson stepped up and donated $ 500k.
But, he is a private company, why does he have to tell everyone?

I guess the rebuttal would be - he is showing leadership wanting others in the industry to also step forward.

It was mentioned in the news that 50 large corporations have donated MORE than $ 1 mil.
It was also mentioned that some corporations did not send out press releases about their donations.
It won't be known (if ever) until they file the 10Q or 10K (if a public company).

Again, it is impressive Parson donated $ 500k.
But, that doesn't look as impressive considering Parson is spending $ 5 mil. (?) on Superbowl commercials.
Which is a one night affair.

How much did GD spend on that big party recently?

Does anyone know how much Verisign, Network Solutions, Demand Media, Oversee,
Pool (Rob has a connection to the carribean) and other corporations donated towards Haiti?

I will bet $ 1. that Frank Schilling and Kevin Ham will donate a lot of money towards Haiti and we will never hear about it.
