I just found out that GoDaddy has lowered prices for new domain registrations in .com, .info, .biz, .us down to 6.95 per domain.

It was 7.95 for months, but now is 6.95...

.net & .org are still 8.95...

Thanks for the head-up, guys. To be fair, there are other registrars (like Hostway/AAAQ.com) offering equally low prices ($6.95 for CNO) all along; but I won't recommend both of them. I would rather pay 8 cents more ($7.03) for each name at EV1Servers and go with OpenSRS/Tucows, which comes with a more reliable backend and better customer service.

What are they telling us? When, they reduce the registration cost for
.com , .info, .biz and .us . But, not .net and .org

godaddy has always been 8.95 except during may when it was 7.95. The april sale of 6.95 expires at the end of the month.

... which will then be extended to the end of May, and then the end of June, etc. They have done that before; who knows they will not do that again? ;)

godaddy always makes it impossible for resellers to survive, becuase they compete with them and offer lower pricing ...

This sucks.

I think domains should be $15/yr++ everywhere :)

All these registrars and resellers are offering too low prices.

Yea....everyone wants to be better or equal to their competition. The question is who starts the pricing trends? Is it network solutions?

I do OK with my WWD account, because I use it for my (close to 300 now) own domains. I use it as a value-added for some hosting customers. If you have over 100 domains, I think it makes sense to have the reseller account.

Registrar prices are the least of your worries. If you are a developer, multiply each $7 name with 20x cost of hosting per year, 7-9x cost of renewals for the long term, min 3x cost for development, 20x min. cost of promoting that name per year, and it ain't cheap anymore. And that doesn't even cover the time per hour for your efforts.

When you take on a name, you take on a massive liability to ensure it grows up into a healthy child. It always amuses me how resellers think.
