Good news for idn.com owners

Second level registrants for any .com or .net domain names will have the
right to activate their second-level name for any IDN versions of the
corresponding .com or .net name and no one else will be allowed to do
that.
All second level registrations for IDN versions of .com or .net will be
associated with their corresponding ASCII .com or .net as applicable.
In essence, the result will be that all active second level domain names
for .com or .net (ASCII or IDN) will have the same registrant. For any
that are not activated, they will be unavailable to others.
I don't think there should be any user confusion in the DNS in this
approach. Do you?

things are not clear yet, there are many versions of .com and .net in tons of languages, donno what are their plans

I don't think that is the case. Mobi will remain .mobi in all languages.

The benefits to this are quite enormous. One the internet goes IDN.IDN, it could lead to huge loses in traffic to com and net sites (please lead COULD LEAD, not WILL lead) as the internet becomes very fractured and segregated. Dot mobi could be (again, COULD BE) an extension that unifies all of this.

I don't think so. I think it is going to stay the latin alphabet .mobi. I am sure there are still many, many details and trials to work out.

It has been awhile since I read all the details. dotMOBI (mTLD) has already been working on this with the Chinese counterparts.

If there are to be IDN.mobi then that is something within itself.

How mobile (to represent a mobile wireless device) translates into different languages vs a mobile vehicle remains to be seen. Even as in native english language, the word mobile has different meaning.
