Correspondents in San Francisco

GOOGLE is testing a service that allows people to customise email accounts with their names or other personal touches.

Students at a community college in Silicon Valley were invited by Gmail product manager Stephanie Hannon to make their own Gmail domain names.
Students at San Jose Community College can customise addresses with their own names, school teams, or other personal touches, Ms Hannon said in an entry in Google's official blog.

"We're testing a new service with the school by hosting Gmail accounts with SJCC domain addresses (like studentAjaguars.sjcc.edu) plus admin tools for efficient account management," she wrote.

Ms Hannon left an invitation for other schools, businesses or organisations to contact Google about crafting their own Gmail domain addresses.

It sounds fairly interesting, if there isn't a limit on how many characters a person can use it will get nasty.
