Great news for .in and .co.in owners

Hi all,

In the last week i have been getting many $xxx and $x,xxx offers on my .in and .co.in domains so the investment looks good for the future. I am obviously going to develop mine and wait for the extension to mature, but i thought i would mention this, because if you check the registry the .co.in and .in boom has been intense it has been recorded as one of the most successful and speedy extension to have been registered in a very long time.

Also with this statement from the Indian press

India is probably the biggest growing IT industry in the world at the moment. At present there is something like 38 million internet users in India and this is expected to grow to 100 million by 2007, according to the Internet & Online Association of India.

This can only be good news for the future, so my advice is develop and hold on to your names do not be tempted to sell them for $xx

How do you want to develop your .in names.
I saw that the indian market is a bit different to the EU or US market. The content should more different. You have content specialy for India?

The other big problem with India is language. There quite a few different major language groups here and the importance of English is probably greatly overstated. If I were developing a site here, I would at least have Hindi and Tamil pages in addition to English.

Will India ever be a single market from Internet perspective? I don't know. It may well be that these things develop more along Ethnic and Linguistic lines rather than country groupings. If that is the case then IDN dot coms are going to more useful than the local ccTLDs.

Yep Praktic at Resellers.co.in is a good chap, i use them.

As for popularity in the 2 extensions my .co.in seem to be very popular over the .in.

I guess it is due to the .co bit like .co.uk etc being a recognised extension.

All my major offers have been for .co.in extension only a few on the .in

Great extension, huge potential, English is by far the most used language in Internet India. I personally have sold just below $xxx,xxx of .co.in / .in names and have retained the majority of the top premium names here:

http://www.indomains.net charge a onetime $5 charge for a domain push to verify a non verified account. This means for verified members (members that made a financial transaction and paid by credit card or paypal) it's free to push a unlimited amount of domains.

This is done to protect all parties. We had some pretty spooky experiences with domain hijacking, theft and even phishing websites trying to hide their tracks by pushing the domain from one account to another and back and.... (using us -indomains.net- as a puppet on a string)

All the domain we push to another account at indomains are done by hand after checking and doublechecking.

All this for a $ or 2 we make on a registration.

A2z Nice site mate. I hope it is successful for you. I have some good names that go with some of your items you are selling. I considered developing them into a shop. I think i will wait and let the experts in India buy my names and develop like that though.

A lot of people do that who do not understand the market. They just see another countries extension and go yuck! if they took the time and researched then they would realise my friend. At the moment though there is little value due to the extensions young age but give it time for the extensions to mature then you will see.

Yes, this is particularly so because the potential launch of about 10 IDN ccTLDs to cover the major language groups in India could render this extension largely redundant. Whilst this will happen to .CN very soon, the dot CN will map to their IDN equivalent and vis-versa. With, the proposed ccTLDs for India, this of course will not be possilbe.

The other thing with India is that very few people relatively are online yet. That means that change will not so much need to be implemented, but be present as Fact Accompli.
