According to my research tool which tests 19 different aspects of a names value the name (undeveloped) is roughly worth about $1000 or less, unless I am missing something not too obvious.
I would take the money and run for either $25000 or $50000 offers you say you received.
Some name values are more calculable than others, but that pretty much matches with my original guesstimate. Obviously developed, and bringing in traffic, it'd be worth more to most. The throw-away of course... is that if someone has enough money, the domain name is ultimately worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Outside of that is always speculation.

:: Looks over... :: www.culinary.com Mm... nope, nothing yet... and a PageRank of 6/10. Yipes.

P.S. Even though it may be a real term it is very little beyond being a made-up word in that it is relatively unknown term and quite obscure with 95% of us never hearing of grep before, and likely would get almost no typeins, IMO.

Couldn't agree more. In fact, let's second that 95% with greater than 99% of the developed world including its most educated people. Unless you're really attached to this name or its relevant sphere of influence, you hit the jackpot with offers like that.

Agree with Nexus its going to be a long road to develop, if you had a grep theme to a search engine, search for Regular Expressions - thats the re part

like search for : regist*
would do a search on all matching words
register
regitrar
registrant
registered
registration

That would be popular Search Engine IMO. It could also serve as a linux portal,
the SE gets the traffic, then entices people to download Linux.

Reseller $2x,xxx

Isn't it obvious? We don't know if we're ready to sell, we might want to develop it. :-)

Of course that's your choice and your business.

Personally, if I wanted to develop a name, owned grep.com, and had a 50k offer, I'd sell it immediately and buy a better name for development (and probably have quite a bit of change left over).

Well the funny thing with domains is that it seems like the longer you hold on to them, the higher offers you receive. $50K is awesome, but when it comes down to it, the person paying you $50K obviously thinks it is worth that much. I'd come back with $75. It's pushing your luck, but if they HAVE TO HAVE it, they will pay. If not, then tell them to be on their way.
