I am looking to sell the domain http://www.halflife2.info . If you dont know, half life 2 is a much anticipated game coming out for the PC soon. Other related domains such as http://www.halflife2.com and http://www.halflife2.net are very high traffic sites. I think the .info domain would compliment an information/community site about HL2.

However the only problem is that I dont have a clue how much it is worth. Can anyone provide an appraisal on it?

I think it should be fine. Halflife2.org, .net and .biz etc don't seem to be owned by valve from what I can see.

I am thinking about developing it but it would take quite a lot of effort. I was wondering if the domain had value in itself without much development.

I tryed to reg it and it was taken... I guess it was YOU, halflifetwo.info is avaiable though last I checked!

If you got this name about a year ago, I think it would be worth more. You need to build up a site before the release of the product, otherwise it's too late. I don't think anyone would buy this off you for much

I know what you mean lukeeales. However I think that Half Life 2 is a different case. Games like FarCry, although very good, have been all but forgotten about since few popular mods have been released for it. Half Life 2 on the other hand has a huge community fanbase already. Counter Strike for example (a half-life 1 mod) is still the most played online game even after 6 years or whatever. People still also enjoy mods like Day of Defeat, Natural Selection etc.

Yeah it is different than most games since it has a huge following. I own ffx2 which I bought about 2 months before release (almost 1 yr. ago) and today it still has awesome traffic and over $20/day rev from goog alone. Still has steady traffic.
I also own the domain for the next FF release coming out in 2005 and it is only couple hundred uniques/day at the present time. Will increase significantly 2-3 months before release.

The game hasnt launched yet, and I wouldnt hold my breath on the delivery date. However, if you move quickly and develop a site around the name, you may have a winner.

Im relatively new to the boards and dont feel too terribly comfortable throwing out appraisals, but if I were interested in the name I might drop a buck fifty on the it.

:edit: almost forgot to add this.. PCGamer played it through and made the ultimate of all statements, "The best game of all time."

PC Gamer USA gave it 98% (highest rated game ever), PC Zone UK gave it 97% (highest rated game ever), PC Gamer UK gave it 96% (equal highest rated game ever with Half Life 1).

So yes.... it is quite popular
