Hi,

Any feedback on Hardbyte.com / .co.uk / .net / .eu?

I had Hardbyte.com appraised at £xxxx last year. Do they go up/down in value? I get many emails of offers and thinking of selling/auctioning in the next few weeks.

Thanks in advance.

nice name(s), to an enduser, you only have to look at www.HardOCP.com to see it. I would have thought low $XXXX (1500-2500?) if you get the right buyer. I would if I had the money.

Name alone, its worth $xx undeveopled as it does not mean anything. You might try selling to the endusers at the other TLD, or ccTLD.

If every site had to be developed, no one would have any time or business for the domain selling industry (its early I cant think of the right words..). It would be only worth anything developed if it was designed to hit the right buyer. One name developed may be a completely different site for another person.

You know that its not just dependant on a developed site, as domain appraisels confirm if you have read one? Its value is mainly dependant on a unique, short name that is widely available and not in a dictionary ;)

If the official domain companies that have appraised the domain name say around £1000 - why in the name of cyberspace would you rate it a low $xx ?

Many thanks for your reply - would like to hear more.

I agree it doesn't exactly make sense, but its a pretty brandable name and you should be able to get around $300-$500 for it at this point in time I think.

Thanks for your reply GT.

Does anyone think that I should sell .com / .net / .co.uk / .eu separately or in bulk?

Thanks

LOL. Sorry if you felt offended. If you have an appraisal by official companies - why in the name of cyberspace would you ask for appraisals here as well? ;)

what i mean was undeveloped, and selling to a reseller. Of course to an end-user, it would be worthed abit more, $300-$500 like what GT Web just said.

LOL I wasnt offended, I understand it was only your opinion, I wasnt being bitchy sorry.

I got the appraisel from an official company to see what it is actually worth, I was only asking in here to see what kind of value other people thought it would be.

I did use it in the beginning for selling hardware and a forum for hardware support. It was quite busy and got many hits, but didnt even think to save any stats at the time.

As it used to be quite busy with traffic and a unique name I thought it may have been good in value. Will see what happens, but any other comments/feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for asking a newbie question, but what you mean by an end user?

Like someone who already has a website and needs a new name?

Thanks

It refers to a person who is in need and has appropriate use for the domain name.

ok name, but still only $xx for a reseller I think, I am not sure someone here would pay alot more than $100 ....and something about your: "professional domain companies" companies like Sedo or Afternic like to appraise high since they make money on the transfer in % as well, meaning they make 50 bucks if you sell through them for $500 and $200 if you sell for $2000 and if you can use that appraisal to convince a potential buyer to pay more thats exactly what they want. In my opinion "professional appraisals" are usually a multiple of what a domain is really worth..if you find someone that wants the domain to develop it you might get $400, but I cant see anyone paying a lot more than that...

Hi,

So if the domain name had a website such as HardbyteOCP.com as mentioned above - would it increase its value? Is it also dependant on hits/traffic and how about registered users?

Many thanks

Most definitely...many .com names of big websites today started off being unknowns.

I did see a three word .com domain on mortgage that recently sold on Sedo for 35,000 Euros...beating many cool short dictionary domains...

I didnt check further, but it goes to show nothing is impossible..

The reason is simple, the companies that evaluate domains are mostly out of wack with what a domain really sells for. I have a couple site I had them do their "evaluations" on, and I know there is no way I would get what they are saying, and they are developped. THe last domain I had "evaluated", came back with the value of $13,975.00 - $16,725.00 USD, so I bought it, for $400.00. It is always best to take what they say with a grain of salt.

That said, I think the domain has value, and would figure it would fetch in the low to mid $xxx undeveloped.

The domain without development is in the low-mid $xxx, now, if you develop it, it will increase its value

well, heres my opinion..

although it does sound like some type of tech site, and we all know only an enduser would buy it becauses its made up, I dont think any enduser would hurry up and spend mid + XXX on this name, when there are tons of other names that could be used for the same thing, that are dirt cheap.

I think you're lookng at $25.00 - $35.00 right now for the name. If an enduser comes out and pay in the xxx for that, more power to ya and I hope it works out, but thats where I see the name right now.
