Hi,

I want a domain which is something like TwowordsName.com, I mean, it is a composed keyword which consistent of two words.
The guy offering this wants $5,000.00, but for example, Twowords-Name.com is mine ! and I took it when it was deleted, not even tried in an auction.
All net/org/info/biz/us extensions are not taken with and without hyphen.

Do you think a domain can really have a value of $5,000.00 if none of the variants are even taken ?

What's your opinion ?

You're soo funny :)
You know what, I won't tell you, but I'll tell you another almost identical case that has just happened to me.

Some time ago I added "relationalalgebra.com" in my list at whois.sc, I was thinking to grab it. I'm a database theoric, but not that much, like to put a site just for that.
Well, recently, all of the sudden, "domainactive" registered. I don't know I have a bad feeling. I've heard that some times are places that are logging your domain searches and this special case is awesome.
Look :
http://www.whois.sc/relationalalgebra.com
http://www.whois.sc/relational-algebra.com
The domain want directly to fabulous so, this is mere especulation, but especulation with what !?!?
See, relational algebra is inside the relational database model which is inside the whole database world, who would want it ?
I don't think they can make a cent out of it except but me :(
I'm going to fill my list with all theorical terms not taken and see if someone grab them just for fun :)

It is most definately possible for a 2 word .com to be worth even more than $5K, depending on the words, and the someone. Even if all other extensions are free.
The market favours .com, and he may want the name and he can alwats buy up the other extensions.

I sold a 2 word .com for xx,xxx 1 week after registering it :)

At the time i didnt feel the need to develop it and i wasnt really all that greedy so i thought i might as well sell it to the buyer because i knew they would want it.

Now i wish i had that name though.. ahh sellers remorse :) Not that i would have done much useful stuff with it.. but it was a damn nice novelty name to have :)

It could be worth more depending on traffic and earnings, and memorability

It was a private sale so i would rather keep the details confidential since i dont usually release those kinds of things.

I have sold heaps of names for X,XXX and more.. in fact i dont usually entertain offers below X,XXX because all of the names i have easily pay for themselves so i dont have a need to sell anything cheap. These days i usually dont sell names at all.. i just want to work on building up my portfolio which i should have concentrated on more many years ago.

However on occasion i do sell names cheaper for like $750 or something if i feel that is all they are worth.. im not greedy :)

overture is a good tool to start, find out what people type in there browser with and without extension, also i try and follow the news terms that mean nothing today could be the best gems for tommorow

All ok :)
but why domainactive registered RelationalAlgebra.com !?!? :)
It was zero overture when I checked with/without extension and even as an expression.
If you look at results at google, you'll find 99% .edu sites, lol.
I can't see Stanford buying relationalalgebra.com or anything related. :)

overture without ext and space imbetween
349 relational algebra

based on this i would think relationalalgebra.com might receive 10-50 typeins a month tops depending (because I am not familiar with this term) if it makes sense as a two word combo, you wouldnt think 5k is reasonable

(how do you see what people search for at overture?)

go to http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/
than type in cars or any other term, but be carefuls sometimes overture automatically corrects misspell, some words it doesnt, also doesnt diferentiate plurals ie it doesnt give sepaerate results for car or cars unless with ext ie cars.com car.com also misspells with ext. I find with ext I get about ten times the monthly traffic, but be carefull buying names on this alone people can manipulate the traffic, but generally if you are regging a name for first time there would be no reason to manipilate traffic
hope this helps
