Which appraisers do you trust?

Appreciate input. Guy gal (who knows) wants to sell Estibot domain valued at $11,000 for $3700.

Is there a kinda rule-of-thumb that one can go by. That one pays. Like with jewelry. 1/3 of retail etc.

Thanks

Sometimes you get emails containing the best appraisal services. If they match the required budget of the prospect, they will pay for them!

In reality, none. The valuation is in the eye of the beholder, those who've specifically sold in that niche/been around and what someone is willing to pay for it. Some go on gut. I've never heard a 1/3rd rule of thumb with Estibot, that's ridiculous.

why do you say ridiculous? Just curious. Trying to learn.

I say estibot...because it is the one valuation I hear. Though
a G search brings up many.

May I ask your opinion re the offer. What to do? How to know?

Thanks for replying. Much appreciated.

I would suggest spending some time at dnjournal.com and reviewing what premium domains have actually sold for recently. Find some domains of comparable quality, and draw your valuation conclusions from that. I can't think of a better reality check.

Estibot may have its place, but not in important decisions like this.

Good luck :)

Estibot is not very accurate.

I find that the most reliable way to determine value is to try and find recent comparable sales. To do this, search DNSalesPrice.com and NameBio.com.

Last point of interest. Relevant re this thread. And another reason re
confusion re valuation.

Cheers and thanks again.

Not a sales thread and definitely not 1/3rd rule on that one.

Sorry...couldn't resist. Was relevant. If I hadn't
used word "offers", would it have been acceptable?
I knew when typing that word was prob a no-no.
Sorry! Won't happen again.

I will make it short.
Your domain is worth $11,000. Alright. You want to sell it for just $3700 ? Alright.
Do it.

Anyway, the comparison with jewelry or commodities is pointless, domain names are not liquid assets.

Excellent point.

Stop using estibot, price your domain to the level that you wont regret selling.

If people believe in these Appraisal companies then why don't they use the appraisal value when they buy the domain?

I think they mess up the order...

They like to buy low, then get high, then try to sell.

It works much better if you skip the middle step.

People are contradict to themselves when they know the answer when they ask the question but they tend to ignore it.

READ READ and READ!!!!!!

How many times do we have to answer the same question about appraisal????

We should create a new section called Special Appraisal and not let member to post anything there with a Big Header "Nothing Here to Look or Post"
