The new weekly domain sales report is out at Domain Name Journal. A Russian company paid the highest amount reported thus far in 2004 to acquire Metropol.com. .Com almost registered the first single extension sweep of the Top Ten since we began reporting last fall. The party wasn't broken up by .net, not .org or .de either - not even info - it was a .BIZ finishing #3 after selling for close to $7,000!

You can see all of the details here:

No I didn't. As stated in the article, our reporting period ends with sales Sun. Feb. 1. That auction ended Feb. 2 and would thus be in the period for next week's report. However, I still would not report the sale until I actually see the domain change hands as Ebay is notorious for bogus auctions. This seller has a feedback total of 1 and the person who bid the price up against the eventual winner from the beginning to the end is a new registrant with a grand total of 0 feedback. Those are all the signs of a typical phony Ebay auction.

It could end up being legit but it won't be reported until I see some evidence it is real. It is a nice domain - gets over 400 in OT with the extension but still don't think that makes it worth anywhere near 14K.
