It has been reported that Hillary Clinton went to the National Arbitration Forum and just was awarded her name.

She fought to get www.hillaryclinton.com

The article was posted by Carl Limbacher at www.newsmax.com

That's funny. Isnt there a clause somewhere about politicians NOT being able to challenge their names?
I'll try to dig up the linkis, but I know I had seens several links soecifically aimed at political figures and domain names, and you it said that because of the nature of politics, a politician could not go after the name, especially if it was being used for a free speech campaign.

Didn't Senator Orrin Hatch write the law concerning this?

Further, these are public figures like Madonna. If maybe there was a blog with free speech and some ads then the original owner might have been able to keep it.

is it true that politicians can't go after names? Berryhill, can you comment on this?

respondent did not respond - usually bodes well for the complainant.

As public figures, they are fair game for comment, however:

In determining whether or not Complainant has common law rights in the HILLARY CLINTON mark, the Panel notes that Respondent failed to contest the allegations and the evidence contained within the Complaint. Due to Respondent’s failure to submit a response, the Panel has chosen to view the Complaint in a light most favorable to Complainant, and will accept all reasonable allegations and inferences in the Complaint as true.

Yeah but still it's a typo of Terri Schiavo. How did you find that one, by the way, John?
