I absolutely love the concept of the hobbyist exploring ways to launch homemade satellites of their own and the data they can collect.

Such as MIT's low "beer-budget" $150 space cam that actually went 93,000 feet (nearly 18 miles) on a weather balloon and a styrafoam beer cooler.
