I was recently reviewing a technology-oriented domain and ran it through a structural analysis framework I’ve been experimenting with.

What stood out was how certain names align naturally with deeper technology infrastructure narratives rather than typical SaaS branding.

Some domains combine a scientific or experimental concept with a technical term like “data”, “compute”, or “systems.” When that happens, the name starts behaving less like a conventional brandable and more like an identity that fits infrastructure or research environments.

In these cases liquidity tends to be different from typical brandable domains.

They often stay quiet in marketplaces for long periods, but when the identity aligns with a real product, research platform, or infrastructure layer, the perceived value can shift quickly.

From an investor perspective, these feel closer to strategic operator acquisitions than standard reseller flips.

Curious how others here approach domains that lean toward deep-tech or infrastructure narratives.

Do you treat them as longer-term holds waiting for the right operator, or do you still evaluate them using typical brandable liquidity expectations?

Always interested in hearing how other investors think about this category.

Hi Hashim,

I tend to treat them more like asymmetric bets. They may sit quietly for years, but if the underlying field matures and the terminology sticks, the right operator can see immediate strategic value in the name.
