How do younger founders and creators actually see domain names today?

I've noticed that many younger founders and creators seem to approach domains differently than people did years ago.

Do you think the role of domains is changing for the next generation, or is it more about different priorities and workflows compared to earlier internet eras?

Well certainly, they are given new options, like .ai, and .me or .io for example, but it does require more marketing to get those extensions to be profitable. But later “createanything.com” becomes a two million dollar purchase of “anything.com” as we’ve seen recently. It doesn’t mean that .com is no longer the king, it just means they can get started on a less than ideal domain name.

That’s how it goes, right. Those names may be the platinum standard (one word dot coms) that many will overlook. Twitter used to have an awkward twttr.com or something like that, but later upgraded to the full word. If you want to be in business long term, you still need the one word dot com. But it doesn’t mean you can’t get started with those odd extensions or awkward domains.

Agreed. But, I am lamenting on the fact, all good ones are taken... My pain is, if I am to start domaining today I can't build a MOAT!
