How does Escrow protect you if seller doesnt hand over the domain

Hi all.

I have never used escrow before and was wondering what protection if offered if the seller does not hand over the domain which you paid for?

Also it says on the escrow site that the service is for domains without content however I am buying a website. Is this ok with escrow...anyone have any experience of this?

Are there any other alternatives to escrow that offer protection other than paypal?

If they don't hand over the domain you don't authorize escrow release the money to them. Simple as that.

A domain or a domain with website, it really doesn't matter.

escrow.com will not protect the seller, because they do not know if the domain was transferred

moniker escrow will protect both parties, because the domain is transferred via them

sedo escrow will protect both parties in most cases (some TLDs incl. gTLDs)

As the seller, always notify Escrow.com about the transfer status e.g. copy them when pushing the domain or when sending the account into to the buyer. Never had a problem with them.

but the buyer can transfer the domain to a third person and say he never received it

therefore moniker escrow is more secure

Escrow treats the seller pretty poorly IMO. Basically...the buyer can back out anytime before the 'inspection' period is over...and they will not be a part any legal dispute and just refund the cash...I had a deal where I already transferred the name and the ffing fortune 500 company decided on a different name after the fact...the name was in their account - the cash was in escrow waiting to be release - three days into it..they changed their minds - escrow rolled over. - pissed me off enough to use escrowdns or my own wire from now on as I don't like BS.

well I was considering using escrow.com as the fee or $190 seems fair however I am slightly concerned about what was mentioned above. Mainly that escrow doesnt protect the seller.

I will be checking out sedo escrow and their fees before going ahead

Yes, I did get the name back....but I was on my own to get it back.

Sedo just takes to long,they take the piss thats why i prefer escrow.
